Interest-Ing Financial Wager: When Will Rates Rise?
The Bank of England Governor has indicated that interest rates could rise at the “turn of the year” and bookmaker, William Hill, agrees offering just 6/4 that it increases between January and June 2016. It is 11/8 that interest rates increase after that and 9/4 that they do so before the end of the year.
“Should financial recovery continue as it has been doing, Mark Carney predicts that an interest rate increase could happen at the start of 2016 and the odds certainly back up that theory,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “The prices are all incredibly tight though so we will certainly be maintaining a keen interest in this market.”
When will the Bank of England base bank rate next increase: 6/4 January – June 2016; 11/8 July 2016 or later; 9/4 2015
