Hughes Favourite for Final Championship

William Hill make Richard Hughes the 1/2 favourite to win the 2015 UK Flat Jockeys Championship, following the news that he will retire at the end of the season. Hughes has been Champion Jockey for the last three years and is odds-on to add to that tally before hanging up his riding boots.

Ryan Moore is the bookmakers second-favourite at 9/4, with all other rivals at double figure odds.

Richard Hughes has suggested he will turn to training in 2016 after he retires as a jockey and William Hill have priced up a special.

It’s 5-1 for Hughes to train a Group 1 winner in the UK or Ireland in his first year as a trainer; so if he changes his mind on retirement like Jamie Spencer, then it would count from the first year he holds a licence.

“Richard Hughes has a brilliant racing mind that has been honed through his upbringing and riding career and he could be challenging his brother-in-law for the big races soon,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “Before Hughes turns his attentions to training, we think he will go out with a bang and land a fourth Champion Jockey title.”

2015 UK Flat Jockeys Championship: 1-2 Richard Hughes, 9-4 Ryan Moore, 10-1 William Buick, 14-1 Graham Lee, 20-1 James Doyle, 33-1 Adam Kirby, 40-1 Andrea Atzeni, 50-1 Paul Hanagan, 66-1 Jamie Spencer, Oisin Murphy, (Win Only)
