How Far The Horn

William Hill have priced a distance market for how far Golden Horn may win tomorrow’s Eclipse at Sandown. It’s 11/4 to be less than two lengths, while it’s also 11/4 for John Gosden’s colt to win by between 2 lengths and 3 ¾ lengths. William Hill price a 4 length or bigger margin of victory a 7/2 chance.

“Many are predicting it will be a cake-walk for Golden Horn and if that is the case, the question is by just how far will he win,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Hills also think there is a reasonable chance it could finish in the current betting order (ie 1st Golden Horn, 2nd The Grey Gatsby, 3rd Cougar Mountain, 4th Western Hymn, 5th Tullius). Britain’s biggest bookie offers 4-1 that the market is reflective of the finishing positions.

William Hill are also offering 7-1 for Golden Horn to go unbeaten in 2015, as long as he runs once more. That means if he runs in the Eclipse and wins, but then didn’t run again this year, the bet would be a winner.

If Golden Horn wins impressively, it could have an impact on the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe market, for which he is currently 5-1 second-favourite. Jack Hobbs has actually attracted more bets for the Arc than Golden Horn at this stage, with the possibility of softer autumn ground cited by the bookies as the most obvious reason for a lack of Longchamp support for the Epsom Derby winner.

Britain appear to hold a strong chance to claim the Arc for the first time since Workforce triumphed in 2010. It’s 6/4 with Hills for a British-trained Arc winner in 2015.
