Hoping To Avoid Bookie Buster Champions Day

Bookmakers William Hill are hoping to avoid a killer punch on Saturday, with three strong favourites looming as potentially colossal losers.

Solow is the shortest price as the Even-Money favourite with William Hill for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. The strongest older miler in Europe will be tough to beat, particularly if Gleneagles fails to oppose (he’s currently 9-4 second-favourite).

Muhaarar is likely to be a very popular 15-8 favourite for the British Champions Sprint. One of this season’s star sprinters for trainer Charlie Hills, he has not been seen since winning the Prix Maurice de Gheest.

Jack Hobbs is the final member of the terrible trio for the bookmakers. John Gosden’s 5-4 favourite for the Champion Stakes has had this race as his target after bypassing the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

“Bookmakers could be in for a battering from the Champions Day favourites, particularly from the three we are calling the ‘Terrible Trio’; Solow, Muhaarar and Jack Hobbs,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “We expect those three to be hammered by punters.”
