Heathrow Runway Hot Favourite For Take-Off

Britain’s biggest bookmaker make it odds-on that Heathrow gets the go ahead for a third runway. It follows the Airports Commission report suggesting Heathrow was the preferred option for London airport expansion.

William Hill make Heathrow 1/3 to get a new runway before Gatwick – but William Hill customers have been backing Gatwick despite the report.

“Over twice as many people are betting on Gatwick, going against what the Airports Commission have concluded. Despite Heathrow being supported in the report, it looks like public opinion is swaying in favour of Gatwick,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Gatwick has steadily decreased in price from 4/1 to 9/4, particularly after proposals such as ‘Boris Island’ and a Stansted development have fallen by the way side.

Despite Heathrow looking the more likely of the two to get the go-ahead at this stage, William Hill make it odds-on that Heathrow won’t have a third runway any time soon. It’s 1/2 that Heathrow doesn’t get an operational third runway by the end of 2025, while it is 6/4 that they do.

Which Will Be The First Runway To Be Fully Operational:

Heathrow 3rd Runway    1/3

Gatwick 2nd Runway       9/4

Will Heathrow Have A Third Operational Runway By End Of 2025?:

Yes         6/4

No          1/2
