Happy to Lay Sire?

William Hill are happy to lay the reigning Champion Chaser, Sire De Grugy, despite a winning performance at Chepstow from the Gary Moore-trained chaser.

Before the Rifles Handicap Chase at Chepstow, Sire De Grugy was a best-priced 7-1 with William Hill and although trimming his odds immediately after the victory to a stand-out 9-2 and taking some support at those odds, the firm are still a top-price 4-1.

“We’re happy to lay Sire De Grugy, despite a return to winning ways, as it potentially looks a tougher Champion Chase than last year. Along with Sprinter Sacre, the old kings of Cheltenham look like they will have their work cut out as others emerge to challenge the Champion Chase throne,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

William Hill are also top-price on Sprinter Sacre, their 3-1 favourite for the two-mile chasing crown.
