Grexit Gamble As Odds Tumble

POLITICAL GAMBLERS are taking a punt on the efforts to prevent Greece from leaving the Eurozone failing, and as a result bookmakers William Hill have had to cut their odds about Grexit taking place during 2015 from 5/1 to 3/1.

'For so long the pundits have been saying it is inevitable that a deal will be done to keep Greece in the Eurozone, and that may still happen. But with a Referendum now complicating the issue, our specialist political punters seem to be coming round to the idea that it is a real possibility - and betting accordingly, causing us to slash the odds' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills still think the odds are in favour of an eventual deal to keep Greece in the Eurozone at least until 2016, but have lengthened those odds from 1/9 (stake £9 to win £1) to 2/9 (stake £9 to win £2)

GREECE TO LEAVE EUROZONE DURING 2015?.......2/9 NO; 3/1 YES

GREECE TO BE FIRST COUNTRY TO QUIT EU..........1/3 (UK 4/1; Hungary 12/1. Others on request)

RESULT OF UK EU IN/OUT REFERENDUM?...........2/9 STAY IN; 3/1 LEAVE

WHEN WILL EU REF TAKE PLACE?....11/10 BEFORE end of June 2016; 3/1 July-Dec 2016; 4/1 Jan-June 2017; 4/1 July 2017 or later.
