Golf: The 144th Open Championships

Following his victory at the John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth is the 13/2 favourite with William Hill to win The Open at St Andrews this weekend. Dustin Johnson is 12/1 while Rickie Fowler’s odds have been cut from 25/1 to 16/1, making him third favourite, after victory at the Scottish Open.

Rickie Fowler is currently the worst result for the bookies with William Hill reporting that should the American win this weekend, he will already spark a six figure loss, while Paul Casey, at 25/1 and Louis Oosthuizen, at 20/1, are also poor results.

Current man of the moment, Jordan Spieth, represents a small loser for Britain’s biggest betting firm.

“There has already been plenty of betting activity ahead of The Open and the punters certainly have their favourites at the moment,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Having said that, it is still relatively early in proceedings and there will undoubtedly be more activity as the week progresses.”
