Golden Slipper: Vancouver easy after drawing car park

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Vancouver has drifted from $2.60 to $2.85 at after drawing an outside barrier for Saturday’s Group 1 Tooheys New Golden Slipper.

Exosphere remains unchanged at $4.60 after drawing favourably, while former favourite Headwater firmed from $10 into $9.50 and is the only other runner in single figures.

“Vancouver and Exosphere will now be a lot closer in the betting come Saturday,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“It’s a high-pressure two-year-old race with the favourite starting from the car park, so punters will be looking around for value.”

“Vancouver could drift to as much as $3.50 on the day.”

English ($15 to $13), Furnaces ($16 to $14) and Haptic ($17 to $15) all firmed at William Hill after the draw.

The odds have also been firming at William Hill that this year’s 2yo Triple Crown will be won, with punters heavily backing that a horse will take out the Golden Slipper/Sires Produce/Champagne Stakes treble from $31 into $8.
