Gleneagles Solid But Found Floundering

Bookmakers William Hill are laying plenty of money in the 2000 Guineas for Gleneagles – but it’s a different scenario in the 1000 Guineas, with antepost favourite Found looking weak in the market.

Gleneagles leads the way in the betting following the latest confirmation stage for the 2000 Guineas – William Hill make Aidan O’Brien’s favourite a 2-1 chance, while Estidhkaar leads Champion Trainer Richard Hannon’s challenge at 7-1. Gleneagles is the best-backed horse and a solid favourite, despite not receiving the same degree of hype as previous Ballydoyle Guineas’ favourites.

Territories and Intilaaq have both been supplemented for the Classic – Andre Fabre’s horse is 7-1 in the betting with William Hill, while Intilaaq is at 14-1 for Roger Varian.

Meanwhile in the 1000 Guineas, Found is the current 7-2 favourite and holds the worst antepost liabilities – however she has been very uneasy in the market over the past week and 9-2 second-favourite Lucida has attracted more recent support. William Hill have trimmed Lucida to 9-2 from 6-1, while Osaila is 8-1 from 10-1.

“Gleneagles is a solid favourite for the 2000 Guineas, but there are some negative market vibes about Found in the 1000 Guineas,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “Osaila and Lucida are the ones that punters are backing against Found.”
