Glastonbury: Massive Gamble On Coldplay

Emily Eavis may have come out and denied that they will be playing, but William Hill have slashed the odds of Coldplay headlining the Pyramid Stage on the final day of Glastonbury from 16/1 to 7/2 in the space of less than 24 hours.

“We had punters going from shop to shop to place as much as they possibly could on Coldplay and that kind of sustained gamble often indicates a bit of insider knowledge,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “If I were pressed to make a guess on who will headline the last day of Glastonbury based on the way the market has been punted over the last couple of months, I would have to plump for Coldplay.”

It was not just Chris Martin and co who were well backed on Tuesday, with Adele’s odds tumbling from 66/1 to 12/1 after an online gamble.

“The gamble on Adele was not as big as the one on Coldplay but it could be the case that Coldplay have been lined up with Adele perhaps as a backup,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Who will headline Glastonbury 2015 (Sunday Pyramid Stage): 7/2 Coldplay; 5/1 AC/DC; 6/1 Blur; 6/1 Taylor Swift; 8/1 Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds; 9/1 Elton John; 10/1 Muse; 12/1 Adele; 12/1 Madonna; 12/1 Paul McCartney; 12/1 Depeche Mode; 16/1 BAR
