Giovanni Can't Dent Derby Betting

Giovanni Canaletto has been pushed out to 16-1 from 10-1 by William Hill after a disappointing defeat at the Curragh in the Gallinule Stakes. The David Wachman-trained Curvy just held on to upset the favourite.

William Hill also narrowed the antepost favourite Golden Horn to 7-4 from 2-1 and Zawraq to 9-2 from 5-1.

“Giovanni Canaletto is the latest in a long line of potential Derby horses who have failed to live up to high expectations this season. As potential rivals are found out in the trials, Golden Horn has increasingly strong claims and continues to shorten as favourite,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
