Gerrard To Sign Off With A Goal, A Kiss Or A Joke?

Steven Gerrard is set to play his final game at Anfield this weekend and William Hill are attempting to predict how he will sign off.

The odds suggest that it is all but certain that he will be subbed off, so he can accept the appreciation of the crowd, and it is 1/2 that he departs the field of play after the 85th minute and before the end of the game.

One (or rather two) of his most famous moments came when he kissed a television camera after scoring a goal at Old Trafford. He is 3/1 to celebrate scoring a goal by doing exactly the same.

“Steven Gerrard has provided far too many fantastic moments down the years and he will no doubt get a fitting send off from the Liverpool fans,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “A goal would be a fitting end for Gerrard’s Anfield career.”

One of the more modern trappings of football is the trend of having messages printed on teeshirts and William Hill offer 3/1 that he wears “You’ll Never Walk Alone” under his Liverpool shirt and 25/1 he wears “This Does Not Slip!”.

Liverpool are facing Crystal Palace in the match and are 4/9 to win while Gerrard is 13/2 to open the scoring and 6/4 to score anytime.

What minute will Gerrard get subbed?
65:00 -75:00 – 7/1
75:00 – 85:00 – 6/4
85:00 to Injury Time – 1/2

What slogan will he wear on his tee shirt:
You’ll Never Walk Alone – 3/1
Thank you and goodnight – 16/1
Stevie has left the building – 16/1
This does not slip!!! – 25/1
How ‘ard? Gerrard!!!! -33/1
Captain Fantastic – 33/1

To kiss the camera if he scores? 3/1
