Frankie Slashed For SPOTY

William Hill have cut the odds of Frankie Dettori winning BBC Sports Personality of the Year to 25/1 from 100/1.

Dettori won Europe’s richest race, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, on Sunday. He rode the same horse, Golden Horn, to win England’s biggest Flat race, The Epsom Derby, in June.

It is a remarkable return to the limelight for Frankie, who fell out of favour with influential owners Godolphin (Sheikh Mohammed’s racing operation) and served a ban for cocaine abuse.

“Frankie Dettori is the bane of bookmakers and he costs us a fortune every time he rides a winner. Plenty of punters are already backing him to win Sports Personality,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

William Hill offer 7/1 that both Frankie Dettori and AP McCoy appear in the shortlist for the 2015 Sports Personality of the Year.

Meanwhile, AP McCoy remains the worst result in the SPOTY book for William Hill. He’s 20/1, but had been as short as 2/1 favourite back in June.

BBC Sports Personality Of The Year: 5/6 Jessica Ennis-Hill, 7/1 Andy Murray, 7/1 Chris Froome, 7/1 Lewis Hamilton, 10/1 Mo Farah, 20/1 AP McCoy, 20/1 Wayne Rooney, 25/1 Frankie Dettori, 33/1 Joe Root, 50/1 Gareth Bale, 66/1 OR  BIGGER THE REST (Each Way ¼ Odds Places 1,2,3)
