Frankie meets 100 Year Old Franklin - Britain's Oldest Female Punter

Frankie Dettori made Dora Franklin’s day when he presented her with a card for her birthday – but it isn’t just any birthday.

Dora is celebrating her 100th birthday and when her granddaughter Clare Earthey sent in a message to bookmakers William Hill saying that Dora has bet with them ever since the company started, Britain’s biggest bookmaker decided to do something special.

Dora is a huge fan of Frankie Dettori and William Hill believe that she is Britain’s oldest female punter.

Dora said: “I’ve been betting on Frankie for years and remember backing five out of seven winners when he rode his ‘Magnificent Seven’ at Ascot. Recently I had a 20pence bet on Frankie and Golden Horn – that’s a big bet for me – and I was so happy they won the Derby.”

Dora’s average bet is 5p each-way and she places her bets on an iPad using the William Hill app.

Frankie Dettori said: “It’s lovely to meet Dora and I wish her a very happy birthday. Hopefully I can ride plenty of winners for her at Ascot this week.”

To celebrate her 100th birthday, William Hill are offering Dora a £100 each-way bet on any race at Ascot this week – easily the biggest bet she will have ever had.

Dora will be at Royal Ascot with William Hill on Tuesday 16th June at Royal Ascot. For press enquiries please contact William Hill PR Jon Ivan-Duke on 07738 853276.
