Dettori's Derby Costs Bookies Millions

The Frankie Dettori-ridden Golden Horn won an exhilarating 2015 Investec Derby on Saturday afternoon and it hit the bookies for a multimillion pound payout.

William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke said:  “Frankie has singlehandedly smashed the bookies for millions of pounds. The public love Frankie and we’ll be counting the cost of Dettori’s Derby for some time.”

“Frankie Dettori really is the bane of bookmakers.”

William Hill estimate that it has cost them well over £1million alone.

It’s not the first time that Dettori has cost the bookmakers a fortune – in September 1996 he rode seven winners in a single meeting at Ascot, costing the industry over £40m.
