Criterion Best Backed for Queen Elizabeth Stakes
The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Criterion has emerged as the best supported runner for Saturday’s Group 1 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes on day 2 of the Championships at Royal Randwick.
The dual Group 1 winner has been backed from $8 into $6.50 at WilliamHill.com.au since the final field and barrier draw on Tuesday.
“We can’t write a bet for the two favourites but there’s been plenty of interest for Criterion,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.
“He loves a soft track and looks to have come back in good order, so the ingredients are there for him to be a genuine threat to the favourites.”
The lack of money for Contributer has seen him drift from $3.40 to $3.70 at William Hill, while To The World has also eased from $3.90 to $4.20.
Happy Trails has been specked at odds, firming from $41 into $31.
