Cricket World Cup: Aussie punters back New Zealand!

Australian punters are doing the unthinkable and rallying behind New Zealand to win tomorrow’s trans-Tasman Cricket World Cup Clash.

Bookie has taken more than double the number of bets for New Zealand to win compared to Australia.

The strong support for the Kiwis has resulted in their odds firming from $2.40 to $2.25 at William Hill, while Australia’s odds have eased from $1.57 to $1.65.

“Punters are normally a patriotic bunch so this is out of the ordinary,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“New Zealand’s thumping of England must be fresh in their minds.”

Australia Captain Michael Clarke has been well supported from $7 to $5.50 at William Hill to be Australia’s top runscorer.

Kiwi paceman Tim Southee is the only one punters want in the most wicket market for New Zealand, with his odds shortening from $4 to $3.
