Politics General Election By Graham Sharpe

Clegg Election Beer Bet's A Winner

NICK CLEGG has bet a caller to a radio show 'several pints' that the Lib Dems will win more General Election seats than UKIP. And with William Hill offering odds of 1/100 that they will do so (stake £100 to win £1), he seems guaranteed to be on a winner. However, had the caller suggested that the Lib Dems will get more VOTES than UKIP, Mr Clegg may not have been so keen on a wager, because William Hill make Ukip 2/7 favourites to receive more votes than the Lib Dems, who are 5/2 to do vice versa.

'Mr Clegg has shown himself to be a cautious political punter by opting to bet on seats rather than votes' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills also believe that the Lib Dems will do well to win more seats than the SNP, despite there being some 50 seats between them in 2010 - it is 1/4 that the SNP end up with more seats; 7/2 that the Lib Dems do, and 9/1 that they end up with the same number.
