Chelsea Flower Show: Biggest Ever Gamble
Bookmakers William Hill are witnessing the biggest ever gamble on the Chelsea Flower Show as bets roll in on the favourite, the Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Garden.
“This is the biggest gardening betting event of all time,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “We are taking thousands of bets and we have already taken far more money on this year’s Chelsea Flower Show than last year.”
The Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Garden is designed by Dan Pearson, who has not showcased his work at the Chelsea Flower Show for more than a decade.
And William Hill now make it odds-on (8/11) that he returns with a win in the Best Show Garden category.
“The betting suggests that favourite backers can start popping the champagne,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
William Hill also think that there is a growing market for nature betting.
“You can have a bet on everything from cuckoo migration to what the weather will be like. The Chelsea Flower Show is another good example of the growth in nature betting.”
