Cheering for Lionesses

The England Women’s football team, more commonly known as the Lionesses, are on the verge of something amazing as they bid to make it through to the Final of the Women’s World Cup.

But even the bookmakers will be cheering for England as they take on Japan this week.

“England are the underdogs but they have already shown their fighting spirit in this tournament,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

England are 14/5 to beat Japan in 90 minutes, with Japan 11/10 favourites to be victorious in normal time.

“England are the betting outsiders and we will be cheering them on.”

But the thought of penalties spreads fear in to the heart of every England fan.

Bookmakers William Hill offer odds of 10/1 that England go out on penalties to Japan, who they face in the semi-final stage.

However, England are also 10/1 to win on penalties and go through to face either Germany or USA in the Final.

William Hill currently have Germany as the tournament favourites at 13/10, with USA second-favourites at 15/8. Japan are third on the list at 3/1, with England complete outsiders at 7/1 to win the Women’s World Cup.
