Can Thistle Crack Saphir?

Thistlecrack is a marginal 15-8 favourite over 2-1 chance Saphir Du Rheu in the JLT Long Walk Hurdle. Colin Tizzard’s charge won the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last time out, while Paul Nicholls’ second-favourite was fifth in the Hennessy most recently.

Reve De Sivola is third in the list at 4-1, despite having won the race for the previous three years.

“The leading trio in the Long Walk Hurdle look very closely matched and the race could be an early Christmas cracker,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile in The Ladbroke, Jolly’s Cracked It heads the market at 9-2, just ahead of Winner Massagot at 5-1. The mover of the day is Zarib, who has been cut by William Hill to 12-1 from 14-1.

Pendra leads the Sodexo Silver Cup betting at 4-1, but there are six horses in single figures showing just how competitive the race is.
