Brits: Bookies Reckon Sheeran has the Edge

Ed Sheeran is the odds-on favourite with William Hill to win ‘Best Male’ at next month’s Brit Awards after a stellar year. Sheeran is the 4/5 favourite, but could come under some serious pressure from popular artist Sam Smith, who is the 13/8 second-favourite.

“Ed Sheeran is the one to beat for Best Male and is the odds-on favourite, but he will have to hold off a strong shortlist, with Sam Smith and George Ezra knocking on the door!” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

In the ‘Best Female’ category, Paloma Faith is the 4/6 favourite to land the award, having also been nominated for Best Female Solo Artist in 2013. The eclectic FKA Twigs is second-favourite at 11/4, with Ella Henderson a big price of 5/1.

“Paloma Faith is our favourite, but as is reflective across all the categories, it really is an open betting market and it would be no surprise to see a wave of bets for someone like Ella Henderson who really connects with her audience,” said William Hill’s Jon Ivan-Duke.

Perhaps one of the toughest categories is for Best Group, with Royal Blood the narrow favourites ahead of Coldplay. Royal Blood are 11/10 favourites, Coldplay at 2/1, with One Direction bound to come for money at 4/1.

“We could be hammered with bets on One Direction, who are the most popular band in the world and have legions of adoring fans.”

The award ceremony is on Wednesday 25th February at the O2 In London.
