Britain’s Biggest Boxing Backer Bets On Mayweather To Tune Of £150,000

Britain’s biggest pugilistic punter has placed his largest wager yet on the richest fight of all time. The veteran boxing enthusiast from Northern Ireland has placed £150,000 on Mayweather beating Pacquiao this weekend. The record six figure punt has taken his total wagered thus far on the sport up to £795,600 since Carl Froch took on George Groves at Wembley last May.

Should Mayweather win, it will be the mystery man’s 12th winning bet in 13 – with Chris Eubank Jr the only pugilist to let him down during an amazing run which includes wagers on Carl Froch, Wladimir Klitschko and both Mayweather and Pacquiao in different bouts. A Mayweather victory will see the total returns to this punter up to £974,312.50.

“This is a gentleman who clearly knows his boxing. He has wagered on a number of the big bouts in the last 12 months and has a fantastic win rate,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “The biggest turnover fight we have ever seen was Froch/Groves 2. We expect this fight to surpass the £1.2m turnover of that one and industrywide takings could be up to £6m.”
