Bowen Bound For National

Sean Bowen is bound for the Grand National after riding his tenth winner over fences and he has now qualified under Aintree rules to take part in the £1million race.

The stipulations on jockeys who are eligible to ride in the race state that a jockey must have ridden ten Chase winners and after riding Virak to victory at Haydock on Saturday afternoon, he can now take an expected ride on Mon Parrain in the Grand National, for which he is odds of 50-1 with William Hill.

“Sean Bowen may still be a teenager but his ability in the saddle defies his years and there could be money for Mon Parrain now,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Mon Parrain was second in the 2011 Topham Chase and has six wins in 19 starts over fences.
