Bookies Sweating On Record Breaking Temperatures
The mercury may have settled to a more seasonal level after the recent heatwave, yet that has not stopped British bettors banking on a record breaking year. At William Hill, odds have tumbled across the board for records to tumble this year with the hottest ever yearly record 2/1 to be broken from an original 8/1 while the UK’s warmest temperature is just 14/1 to be broken at any point this year.
The odds of April having the hottest day of the year have been pushed out from 20/1 to 25/1 in the last 24 hours.
“The mini heatwave appears to be over but if what the weather forecasters are telling us is true, it is merely a taste of things to come and we could see weather records tumbling this year,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “If the weather punting continues as it has been, we could be in for a major payout should the records fall this year.”
