Bookies Dodge Multimillion Pound Bullet

Bookmakers William Hill report that they have dodged a bullet after an intriguing Thursday racing gamble fell by the wayside, which would have seen a multimillion pound payout across the industry.

Four horses had been backed as if defeat was out of the question, but all four horses failed to live up to their pre-race hype, with not one of them winning.

The four that flopped were all trained by Sheena West and owned by Daniel Steele. Fintan and Landscape ran at Wincanton and Tee It Up Tommo and Well Painted both failed to score at Lingfield.

“The bookmakers had multimillion pound liabilities on the outcome of these four horses, which is a massive amount for a supposedly quiet Thursday, so to say we are relieved that the gamble failed is an understatement,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

“It appears that punters have read rumours on social media sparking a betting plunge, but the gamble has faded in to tweet nothing.”
