Bookies Cry No More

William Hill estimate that they are paying out an average of £1million every time Ryan Moore rides a winner at Royal Ascot.

The jockey has already ridden five winners at this year’s Royal Ascot and he looks in with a real chance of breaking the record – much to the dismay of the bookies.

“No Moore please. Ryan is costing the bookies a fortune and we’re not even halfway through the meeting! He’s flying and he could well break the record for Royal Ascot winners,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Moore added to his 54/1 treble on the opening day by scoring on the well-backed 5/2 favourite Acapulco, before adding the Royal Hunt Cup to his tally with 8/1 GM Hopkins.

William Hill are offering odds of 2/1 for Moore to break the current record for winners at a single Royal Ascot, currently held by Pat Eddery who rode eight winners at the 1989 Royal Ascot meeting.
