Bookies Battered As Fury Scoops World Heavyweight Belts

William Hill were dealt a knockout blow by boxing punters after a heavyweight gamble on Tyson Fury to defeat Wladimir Klitschko which included a £25,000 wager from a Manchester based customer at 7/2 which scooped £137,000. He was not the only one backing Fury with over 70% of all bets being struck on him winning.

“Tonight’s bout took well in excess of £1m worth of wagers we thought it was a bookies’ benefit right up until the time Tyson KO’d us for a six figure,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
