Bookies Bashed as Rednapp Departs

William Hill have installed Tim Sherwood as the odds-on favourite to take over as the next permanent QPR manager, following Harry Redknapp’s resignation. It’s 1/3 with William Hill for Tim Sherwood to get the top job at Loftus Road, while Glenn Hoddle is an eye-catching second-favourite at 5/1. Hoddle is currently first team coach at QPR and it would be his first top manager job since leaving Wolves in 2006.

Bookmakers were stunned with a sudden gamble on Redknapp leaving, with William Hill reporting a significant plunge on his departure.

“We saw a massive rush to back Harry to leave (starting at 10:30) with thousands gambled in the space of just a few hours, particularly across London. It would appear that the word got out before he officially resigned,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Paul Lambert is the new favourite to be the next Premier League manager to go, just ahead of Steve Bruce. Meanwhile, the most likely destination for Redknapp to return to management is back in the Premier League, which is favourite at 11/8, while a role in the Championship is 6/4. The chance of Redknapp taking on an International team is 10/1.
