Boat Race: Punters Predicting Cambridge Blues As Oxford’s Odds Tumble

William Hill are just 4/9 that Oxford wins both the men’s and women’s boat race - so favoured are they to win their individual races. Oxford are 1/4 to win the men’s race while the ladies’ crew is 1/6.

The Oxford men’s crew are the shortest priced favourites in the history of betting on the race level with their price in 2014, 2010, 1993 and 1990 and Cambridge in 1995, 1994 and 1999 – in 2010, Cambridge famously upset the odds and triumphed by a length and one third.

In the men’s race, Oxford, who were initially 4/6, have been incredibly well backed with wagers of up to £600 compared to the biggest bet of £80 on Cambridge. In the ladies’ race, Oxford have been the subject of wagers up to £700 with the biggest bet on Cambridge being for £50.

“Not only are the prices heavily favouring Oxford, our punters are backing them as if they cannot lose and it looks like Cambridge will be feeling very blue come the end of the race,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
