Best Backed Team Of The Day Let Down Nearly A Third Of All Football Bets

Bournemouth’s late equaliser was good news for the bookies. 28% of all football bets placed at William Hill on Saturday included an Everton victory and having seemingly won the match at the death, the Toffees contrived to lose their lead again.

“Everton were the best backed side of the day and their late capitulation will have seen thousands of betting slips being chucked in the bin,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Newcastle are 5/6 for the drop after another defeat although they are not in the top three in the betting. Aston Villa are 1/5 after defeat with Sunderland 8/13 and Bournemouth 8/11.

Steve McClaren is 8/11 favourite to be the next manager to leave after the humbling defeat with Garry Monk 6/5.
