ALTHOUGH ED BALLS lost his parliamentary seat, his wife, Yvette Cooper is already being heavily backed to become the next Labour leader - with William Hill reporting a bet of £2000 on her to win the race, and installing her as 3/1 third favourite to do so, with Andy Burnham the 2/1 favourite ahead of second favourite Chuka Umunna at 9/4.

'There is already a lively market on all three of the leadership contests, but the Labour race looks by far the most competitive' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills make Douglas Carswell and Suzanne Evans 5/6 joint favourites to succeed Nigel Farage as Ukip leader, with Tim Farron the odds-on 1/4 favourite to take over as Lib Dem leader.
