Austin To Be Forgotten By Hodgson? Sterling To Start In Slovenia?

Charlie Austin was unable to make it onto the pitch during quite possibly the most tedious match in international football which does not bode well for his England career. William Hill think that he will make his debut before the European Championship offering 2/7 that he earns a cap before the tournament starts although he may have to settle for a bit part role as he is 4/11 to fail to start a competitive England match in the same timeframe.

“Austin would have been hoping that he would have an opportunity to impress against Ireland and now it looks as though he could be at least fifth in the attacking pecking order for England,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Another player who will not have enjoyed the match against Ireland will have been Raheem Sterling who was roundly booed throughout, until his withdrawal after an hour. He did not have much impact on proceedings yet is 1/9 to start Sunday’s game against Slovenia.
