Aussie Rules - Criterion New Fav For Cox Plate

There’s a new favourite for the William Hill Cox Plate after Criterion won the Caulfield Stakes. Criterion is now the 5-1 favourite from 12-1, while Kermadec has drifted out from 4-1 favourite to 6-1 after finishing fourth in the same contest.

Highland Reel has been backed for the Cox Plate in the past few hours, with the sponsors William Hill trimming him to 7-1 from 9-1.

“Criterion is in great form and is now the one to beat in the William Hill Cox Plate, but Highland Reel is the horse that punters are getting stuck in to,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, Amralah won the William Hill Herbert Power by 3 lengths and has now been installed at 10-1 for the Caulfield Cup and 25-1 from 50-1 for the Melbourne Cup. Amralah, who used to be with Mick Channon, appears to be in the form of his life and is 20-1 for the William Hill Cox Plate.
