AP McCoy Thinks Dettori on Wrong Horse

One of the world’s greatest ever jockeys says Frankie Dettori might have made the wrong choice on who to ride in The Derby.

Speaking exclusively to William Hill Radio, AP McCoy, the recently retired 20-time Champion Jockey, says Dettori may regret picking Golden Horn for Saturday’s biggest Flat race of the season. Dettori could have ridden stable-mate Jack Hobbs, who McCoy fancies to win instead.

“I think it's the most open Derby we've seen for a while and if I was Frankie would I have chosen Golden Horn? It's one of those, if I'd had the choice I would be very nervous about not riding Jack Hobbs.”

But McCoy respects Dettori’s record of riding the big race winners, particularly on horses that punters have backed with millions of pounds of cash.

"Frankie Dettori is probably the only jockey to have cost the bookies more than I have,” said McCoy.
