AP McCoy Receives a Knighthood in the New Year Honours

William Hill would like to congratulate our ambassador, AP McCoy, on receiving a knighthood in the New Year Honours.

James Henderson, Chief Executive of William Hill:

"AP McCoy's feats as a jockey are incomparable and will not be surpassed in our lifetime. During his time in the saddle, as the punters' favourite, AP cost us and every other bookmaker a fortune; however, his sheer determination, strength and skill were always a joy to watch for both bookmaker and punter - win or lose. He has certainly given racing and all his fans so many fantastic memories during his long and successful career, such as his incredible ride on Wichita Lineman to win the William Hill Chase back in 2009. So, it's no surprise and, more than fitting, that he is the recipient of such an honour because of his immense contribution to racing."

William Hill ambassador Sir AP McCoy:

"It is an unbelievable privilege and honour to receive this accolade. I wasn't expecting it at all. I consider myself lucky to have had a job I loved, every single day. The team around me made it possible for me to achieve my goals and the support from the racing community and public since my retirement has been overwhelming. A knighthood really tops off what's been a crazy and memorable year".

AP McCoy is entering a fourth year as a William Hill Ambassador. AP writes a monthly blog for William Hill, voices his racing opinions on William Hill TV and Radio, while also contributing his time and effort to William Hill's ongoing Close To Home community projects.
