Australia Specials Betting Royalty By Andrew Brown

Alice, Alice... Will royal baby be called Alice?

Australian punters are taking the tip from their British counterparts and putting money on Alice to be the name given to Kate and Will’s second baby.

Alice has been backed from $15 into $5 at WilliamHill.com.au after reports of a big gamble on the name emerged from the UK.

“It’s a dual-hemisphere plunge now,” said William Hill Australia’s Andrew Brown.

“Our punters have been convinced it’s a girl for a while and Alice has now taken over from Elizabeth as the new top pick.”

William Hill UK spokesperson Rupert Adams said his firm had seen notable support for Alice.

“We have seen a significant number of bets, particularly from the Tunbridge area, and you have to think there is good reason for the gamble,” said Adams.

The top four names in betting at WilliamHill.com.au are girls names, with Elizabeth ($6), Charlotte ($8) and Diana ($10) all considered major contenders.

Odds of $101 are still available about the baby being called Kylie, Bruce or Shane.
