7/4 Hammond And May Follow Clarkson Out Of Top Gear

The BBC are believed to have told Clarkson that his time is up on Top Gear and William Hill make Chris Evans the 6/4 favourite to replace him. Jodie Kidd is 3/1 with Dermot O’Leary, Eddie Irvine, Johnny Vaughan and Steve Coogan all priced at 6/1.

“Chris Evans is continuing to deny that he is even interested in the job, let alone that he has even been approached, yet our punters continue to back him as if he has to replace Clarkson,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

With Clarkson out of the door it remains to be seen whether James May and Richard Hammond follow him. Richard Hammond looks the most likely to stay at 1/2 to stay on the show while James May is 4/7. It is 7/4 that both depart the show.

“At the moment, we think it is likely the other two will stay on Top Gear but ultimately there will be a fair amount of negotiations taking place with the stars of the show and BBC bosses and these odds could well fluctuate over the next couple of days,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
