Australia Showbusiness Oscars / Film Awards By Andrew Brown

2016 Oscars host? Jackman the favourite!

Let’s face it. Nobody does it quite like Hugh.

As the dust settles on Neil Patrick Harris’ performance as 2015 host, attention has already turned to just who will get the gig at next year’s Academy Awards.

Bookie has installed our very own Hugh Jackman as the $7 favourite, just ahead of Ellen De Generes ($10), Billy Crystal ($13), Jon Stewart ($13) and Ricky Gervais ($13).

“Hugh is hot property in Hollywood and his 2009 effort left fans wanting more,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“We think it should be a hugh-in for him to get the job next year.”

Fellow Aussie Russell Crowe is a $34 chance in William Hill’s market while the Nine Network’s entertainment guru Richard Wilkins is at odds of $151.

Channel Seven’s The Morning Show host Larry Emdur is the rank outsider at $251.
