Lieutenant commands Christmas Hurdle

Lieutenant Colonel just edged out Jetson in a good finish to the Squared Financial Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, with William Hill installing the winner at 14-1 for the World Hurdle and the runner-up at odds of 20-1 for the same race.

The favourite, At Fishers Cross was disappointing and has been eased out to 25-1 from 14-1, while Briar Hill is out to 14-1 from 6-1 joint-second favourite.

“The World Hurdle market looks very confusing for punters at the moment, with nothing standing out. There’s been little betting interest in the race while there are question marks over More Of That,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

World Hurdle: 4-1 More Of That, 6-1 Beat That, 12-1 Whisper, Zarkandar, 14-1 Briar Hill, Lieutenant Colonel, 16-1 Cole Harden, Rock On Ruby, 20-1 Jetson, Reve De Sivola, 25-1 At Fishers Cross, Medinas, Monksland, (EW ¼ Odds Places 1,2,3)
