Conti Shortens as Field Takes Shape

Silviniaco Conti has shortened to 9-4 favourite from 5-2, after Ma Filleule dropped out of the William Hill King George VI Chase. Ma Filleule was 25-1 in the market when the news came through that she will not run in the race.

Silviniaco Conti, the reigning Kempton champion trained by Paul Nicholls, has also shortened in the ‘King George/Gold Cup Double’ market from 18-1 to 14-1.

“We’ve not struck many bets for Champagne Fever since Willie Mullins suggested the King George could be a learning curve for the horse. This week it’s all been about Silviniaco Conti and the momentum is with him as we head towards Christmas,” said William Hill spokesman, Jon Ivan-Duke.

William Hill have also trimmed Dynaste to 9-1 from 10-1 – David Pipe’s chaser has strengthened over the past fortnight from odds of 14-1.
