Americans 11/4 To Win Booker Prize As Shortlist Announced

MAN BOOKER PRIZE HEADING FOR PHOTO-FINISH?
Bookmakers William Hill make previous winner Howard Jacobson and twice previously short-listed Ali Smith their 3/1 joint favorites to win the 2014 Man Booker Prize as the short-list is unveiled.

“Literary punters are favouring the runners with the best previous form in the event, but this is no two-horse race and whoever gets his or her nose in first on the line will probably be winning in a photo finish, so closely are the six runners matched”, said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.

William Hill are offering odds of 4/7  for a male winner; 5/4  for a female winner;  11/4 for an American winner.
