A journalist by trade, Graham has spent forty years working for William Hill, initially as a boardman, then as a settler, then as a manager - and for the rest of the time promoting the company in the media. He was founder of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, and has also written some thirty books, the majority featuring gambling, horse racing or football - and sometimes all three.

He has been horse racing on five continents (yet to visit S America, and not much racing held in Antarctica) and wastes what remains of his leisure time listening to psychedelic music from the sixties, (preferably on vinyl) and watching Luton Town fail to be promoted back to the Football League.
