I joined William Hill as a Web Developer back in 2012. I’m Spanish and come from in La Linea, which is actually the closest town to Gibraltar. Even so, William Hill were really helpful, offering an apartment rented by the company for a whole month whilst I looked for somewhere to live nearer to the office – they even put me in contact with a real estate agency.
I’ve since left Gibraltar to work in the Shoreditch office as part of the experimental innovation-stream team.
There’s a lot of really clever people working at William Hill and it’s great to learn from them. Not just technology-wise but also about how betting and gaming works – I was a non-punter when I joined. As well as developing my existing skills, I’ve had the opportunity to try all sorts of technologies I’d never used before.
I’m from Bulgaria and came to the UK four years ago. It was always my dream to come here when I was growing up. I’m really interested in sport and a friend of mine who was already working for William Hill recommended the job to me.
I’m so glad I followed it up because I love it. I really love it. I like the people; I like the betting; I like the connection with the customers. I like telling them i about what’s happening the following week and I like being involved.
Ours is a really busy shop so you’re always on the go. When you’re in a busy shop you also learn a lot, and I’m putting everything from my Apprenticeship training into practice. I enjoy the hands on bits the most and I’m really looking forward to seeing where my career will go with William Hill.

I stumbled into my career at William Hill. I got a job as a Cashier to see me through my teacher training course. I immediately enjoyed the atmosphere and banter in the shop, and after a few months I gave up my aspirations to become a teacher and decided to forge a career here. I gradually worked my way through the ranks of deputy manager and manager and became the District Operations Manager of 25 shops. After spending 15 years as a District Operations Manager I was promoted in 2013 to the Area Operations Manager for the next phase of my William Hill career.
This company has helped me fulfil my potential and exceed my own expectations of what I’m capable of achieving. It helps to have a healthy interest in sports, but it’s the 'people' side of the job that I most enjoy. Every day introduces a different personality and a new life story.
I had spent most of my lifetime abroad and eventually decided to come back to Bulgaria. I was a bit worried about how I would fit back into the Bulgarian way of life until I started at William Hill.
As well as the comfort of working for a big international company, I found so many other benefits. Not just colleagues, but friends. Not just a normal job, but a field in which I could develop my skills and career. I also love the comfortable atmosphere and informal environment, plus the chance to meet people from all around the world. For me, William Hill is definitely a home away from home.
Before joining William Hill, I liked what I did. I was a senior editor working for a publishing company from home. I shared an office with my incredibly wonderful husband and loved when my perfect, angelic children sweetly knocked on the door and asked me to sort out some silly squabble. It was an idyllic life. But then I escaped, or should I say, started working at William Hill – and I’ve never looked back. (Well, I did once to make sure they weren’t closing in on me.)
I love my job at William Hill – the work, the people and the atmosphere. I like the camaraderie and easy-goingness. I like the laughter in the hallways and people’s willingness to help. I like the sense of Making It Happen and all the HOME values. It feels like we’re all building something fun and great for a company that cares about us.

The team is young and very cool – even the managers are young and cool! There is a feeling of comfort here so that when you go to work, you feel great about it. Since we spend a lot of our time at work, I feel it’s very important that we feel at home here.
I only intended to stay for six months but 27 years on and I'm still here! I really enjoyed the interaction with customers and I soon made it my goal to become Manager. In the meantime, I had my son and, when I returned to work, I moved into the role of District Manager before having my daughter. When she was almost two, I became Area Manager. Today I’m responsible for five Area Operations Managers, covering 629 Licensed Betting Offices.
When I first joined, women in management positions were few and far between. Now, I would guess the split is somewhere around 50/50 at shop manager level and there are female role models throughout the senior team. It’s still difficult to attract women from outside the industry into senior roles, but my own experience shows that being a woman and a mum has never been a barrier.
I’ve been married for 32 years and we have three teenage sons and four dogs. I joined William Hill in the Finance Audit Department. Having no gaming experience, I spent every day absorbing new knowledge from the overwhelming number of talented people here. I love being greeted by a different challenge each day, and I am excited to grow and develop with the company.
I’ve been given lots of great opportunities. For instance, I’ve taken over the Pay by Mail Program, processing 200-400 winning tickets per week. I’m also part of a newly-formed social group called ‘William Hill After Hours’, as well as being a member the William Hill International Colleague Forum. This means I’m one of only 16 employees worldwide who meet every six months to promote and develop the brand. I was recently lucky enough to travel to Bulgaria.
It’s been 3 years that I have been working with William Hill and it has proved to be a good experience and learning ground for me. It is inspiring to work for a company that encourages growth personally and professionally. It has taught me how to be flexible and adjust with changing and challenging situations and give my best to be productive and efficient.
Since it is my second home, it is important that I like my job, my colleagues, my managers, the environment, and I wouldn’t last this long if I didn’t. I believe it motivates one to go to work and perform well.
You’re always greeted with a smile here. Sometimes I’ve had a bad day before coming into work, but once I’m here I instantly forget all about it. I think one of the best things in the office is that everyone has their own individuality which they can display, and which is not only valued but which motivates everyone else. For me, this is priceless.
I was born in Lisbon, Portugal and just one year before I finished my degree in Economics I decided to follow my passion in Information Technology and switched to study Computer Science at the University of Lisbon. Because of my musician DNA I believe that proficiency comes through practice so I started to work at the same time I was studying. I’ve worked in IT for several companies with a strong focus on infrastructure security. In 2012 I left Portugal to work with the Amazon AWS team in Dublin and was selected to be a Security Engineer. I joined William Hill at September of 2014 where I am a Security Architect advocating customer trust among all the teams in the company.
I’m passionate about security because it’s a role that is not all about technology. Information security is mostly not a technology problem, it is a people problem. Sound judgment and exceptional communications skills are as important as deep technical skills.
I enjoy working at William Hill because of its innovative culture to surprise customers and internally it fosters the idea that employees belong to this global family.
Before joining William Hill, I ran the Virgin Atlantic operation out of McCarran and then worked in A&R and as a Songwriter for Universal Music Group. I was rarely in the same city more than a few days and I thought that was the life. Until I met my future wife. Now I’m an easy-going family man with a two-year-old daughter and a great career at William Hill.
I work in CMS, or Content Management Systems, which is where we decide what the customers in our Sports Books see – from the odds on a big fight or game, to an attention-grabbing marketing screen or an ever-changing display. Coupled with opening the doors to potential graphic design, CMS allows you to instantly see the changes you make. I can’t think of a better place to be than in the driver’s seat of what runs these displays.
My dream was to cover all of Tel Aviv with green roofs. Unfortunately, my lack of Hebrew brought me to a standstill – but my Greek mother tongue turned out to be the ticket to a role in SEO at William Hill Online. Since then, I’ve worked in the Affiliates department running campaigns in my native country, but when the company decided to close the Greek market, I joined the Mobile team in the Media department.
Although the closest I got to greening Israel is selecting ‘duple sided’ on print settings, I haven’t regretted a single day I’ve stepped into the square tower of the Azrieli. The people inspire me to do the best that I can and to reach my greatest potential. I feel appreciated and cared for. I’m blessed to work alongside such great mentors and be on the payroll of a company with such amazing working conditions.
I’ve been working for a total of nine years now; most of it is with William Hill. This is where I’ve seen myself grow, as a person, professionally and also emotionally.
This is where I have found friends that have become my second family. William Hill also gave me the privilege to travel in Israel and the UK. And as for my current job, in handling people, in decision making and in running my team’s day-to-day operations, I’m happy with the confidence and trust the management is giving me. Another big plus factor are the people I have in contact with in Leeds, Gibraltar and Tel Aviv who are amazing to work with. Most importantly the excellent people in my team who are very reliable and responsible.
Thinking and looking back at what William Hill has given me, I can say that it really is a “second HOME"
I'm currently a manager of the flagship branch of William Hill, Park Lane. I'm 26 and started as a Cashier whilst studying for my A levels. At this point I had no career plan. Taking into consideration I was 18 and had minimal betting experience, I felt comfortable in this male dominated environment from day one. I enjoyed the shop atmosphere, getting to know customers and increasing my sporting knowledge.
William Hill offers the opportunity to move up within the company, with good pay prospects. I’ve been given the opportunity to use and enhance my communication, social and managing skills. I'm naturally outgoing and talkative which helps when communicating with different types of customers. No two days are the same and it certainly beats working in nine-to-five office job!
I joined William Hill 7 months ago from the Financial Services industry. As you can imagine, that could be pretty dry at times and, when I saw a job advertised for a similar role within William Hill, I decided it was time for a change.
I was slightly apprehensive about my first move out of Financial Services but I needn’t have been. What I found at William Hill was a dynamic, engaging environment and, with a strong support network around me, I soon felt like a valued and contributing member of the team. I can’t believe it’s only been 7 months!
My team consists of dynamic individuals, trained by experience and continuously challenged by the demands of our work. Sending the affiliates’ commission accurately and timely is our top priority.
My role here is very exciting for me because being an adventurous person that I am, I always love to try new things or be engaged in a challenging endeavour. It makes me alive... it unleashes my unknown strengths and helps me develop strategies.

I first started at William Hill in 2013 as a Marketing Assistant. Ever since then, I haven’t looked back. From the first day I knew this was the place for me, the energy, the culture and the people were contagious.
Being a sports and racing buff I knew I needed to find a career that found a balance between my personal interests and my own career progression. So far, William Hill have exceeded these expectations.
Each day I think to myself, where else can I go to work, talk about sport and spin it through the “marketing world”.
I first came to William Hill on a University placement in 2005 as Trainee Analyst/Programmer, having never placed a bet in my life! It was a great experience and when I was offered a full-time contract I decided to stay on as a Systems Developer, whilst William Hill sponsored me to complete my studies part-time.
I went on to work as a Systems Integrator and then in 2010 I joined the newly formed Trading development team, who were doing some exciting work to build William Hill's automated pricing engine. I then had the opportunity to lead the team on the development of our horse racing pricing and resulting engine.
After that I took a bigger move to Gibraltar and took a Senior Developer role, soon progressing to the Development Team Lead in Online. I’m now working on a project to rebuild some of our Sportsbook products to give us a real edge over our competitors.
I’ve been with William Hill for 11 years and I spent my first 10 years in Retail based in London as an Area Operations Manager. In the last year I’ve made a pretty big move as I went for a central operations role, managing our online Sportsbook operations in Gibraltar! After working there for a while, I decided that Gibraltar was the right move for me and in January 2013 I moved my family over, which was a big decision. We’ve been really lucky though and now have a wide circle of friends and we have no regrets.
Life and work in here in Gibraltar is exciting as it’s so fast-paced and dynamic. I have a really dedicated, hard-working team that is constantly improving and making it happen. Taking this new step in my career really underlines my commitment to the business and that has been rewarded with the fantastic opportunities I've had to be a HOME Hero and with a trip to Kenya as part of Project Africa.
What I do here at William Hill motivates me to give my all. I started eight months ago as a Customer Support Agent and I was given the fantastic opportunity to take on the role of Quality Coach after only a short time with the company. My team is really welcoming; since joining they’ve made me feel a real part of them and I have the opportunity to use my skills to full effect.
I joined William Hill four months ago but I’ve been living in the Malaga area of Spain since 2005. I had been running my own web business but when I saw the opening at William Hill I knew it was an opportunity I could not miss. I’m so happy I did. My role is great and the people here are so nice and easy to work with.
Being Italian I’m now one of the Italian, Spanish and English Content Editors and on a day-to-day basis I get to write about sporting events and look after the Italian William Hill website. If I had to sum up working here in three words I’d say: different, challenging and comfortable.
My 10 years with William Hill have flown by and I’ve worked in so many different areas. I started out as a CSA in Glasgow while I was still studying for my degree. I then joined the Scottish Regional Office as an HR Assistant. I followed this with three years in Retail as an Area Training Office where I was fortunate enough to be involved in building The William Hill Way (our Retail Training Programme). Now I’m a District Operations Manager and have recently had the honour of being nominated to be Home Hero by my colleagues, which I’m so proud of.
For me, this job is all about the people and I’ve been really fortunate to work with such amazing people here at William Hill. I’m currently working on a new project and later the year as part of my Home Hero role I’m going out to Kenya to join the Project Africa team.
I have never imagined myself leading a bunch of very intelligent people armed with great deal of discipline and cheerfulness. But William Hill made it possible for a 21 year-old lass like me 4 ½ years ago when I started working for a living.
It takes a lot of guts to manage a team with diverse personalities and make them work hand in hand. However, it requires very minimal effort to make a team work together and aim for one goal as long as they know you as their manager is there to protect them.
Being a part of William Hill granted me this power that not any ordinary lady can possess – the influence to make people contented, happy, keep moving forward and work in a HOME.
