As part of our Group or Online business, you’ll undertake an array of training and development activities that are geared towards your specific job profile as well as learning about the needs of the wider business.
Every new face is welcomed at a half day induction event where you’ll learn all about the outstanding heritage of our business, our exciting range of dynamic products and just how much of a growing, international organisation we are. E Learning & Open Courses
From essential e-learning including Gambling Regulatory Training & Security Awareness to self-development resources, our online offerings are increasing every day. We also offer half or one day Open courses in all locations to provide you with the development you require to succeed in your role. There’s even our ever-popular one-day ‘master class’ where we reveal all the secrets of the bookmaking trade.
Whether you are looking to move into management for the first time or fine tune your skills for a more senior position, the William Hill Academy offers development programmes for our most talented and enthusiastic colleagues. We even have programmes aligned to external qualifications and all are designed to help colleagues reach their full potential.
Retail academy - a path for everyone.
Welcome to your refreshed Retail Academy. We’re still offering the same support and training opportunities, but this time they’re more tailored to where we are now as a Retail function. And more focused on your career path. Designed to develop the skills and knowledge you need to progress your career, or be remarkable in your current role.
So, where can you go with the Retail Academy?
You start your path as a CEA on the William Hill Way, a 13-week long induction programme where you learn everything you ever wanted to know about the core principles that underpin the outstanding service we deliver in our betting shops. It’s for new joiners and you’ll be fully-supported by colleagues, shadowing them while you learn the skills you need. Before you finish your training, we’ll check you’re ready to give our customers the best experience.
It’s on to Stepping Up if you’re looking to become a CEM. In line with this new role, we’ve updated the programme too. During your training, you’ll have four days of offsite training with your Regional Training Officer (RTO) with structured in-shop learning too. Taking about 8 – 12 weeks to complete; it’ll begin once you’re in your new role as CEM and then you’ll be supported the whole way through.
A new role. A new programme. Managing for Success – and there’s a couple of ways you can join in. Firstly and already under way for existing BPMs is a structured year-long programme with web-based training and workshops in technical and behavioural skills. We’ll support your learning with Coaching sets – where BPMs will work together in groups, network and develop skills and knowledge. The second way is a brand new Managing for Success programme for aspirational CEMs who want to take the next step up.
Another new programme for 2017….it’s time to start Taking the Lead. It’s aimed at Area Managers and other Retail colleagues at that level to grow in their role. Using blended learning methods such as webinars, videos and workshops, you’ll learn more about all elements of leadership and business management. There’s also facilitated Coaching sets and access to a dedicated website with online materials.
We continue our support right through to Senior Retail management, like Regional Managers, with the ‘Leading the Way’ programme. With bespoke training opportunities, we’ll make sure you’re fully-prepared for your new role in a way that gives you support where you need it.
