The Prudential Ride London - 100 miles through London and Surrey - all for charity

Last month a group of colleagues, including our CEO, Philip,  took part in the Prudential Ride London bike ride - 100 miles through London and Surrey - raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund. Once he was recovered, we went behind the bet with Anthony and Dom, two of our super cyclists to get their accounts of the day:

Anthony: "4 of us hardy northerners accepted Philip Bowcock's offer to join him in riding in the PRL2018 in support of the Bobby Moore Fund (Cancer Research UK).

I started getting in early morning 18-20km rides to help improve my fitness, knowing that I hadn’t ridden a 100miles straight this year and wasn’t going to get the chance before the big day. The event day came round and was about the first time England had seen rain for the last month - with mudguards and a raincoat on, the weather never really felt that bad! Especially with all the supporters cheering, singing, and dancing along the entire route!!

It was an amazing experience and the fact that we collectively raised over £3000 (including the William Hill sponsorship matching) for our charity was the icing on the cake!!!"

Dom: "I’m not a cyclist by any stretch of the imagination, don’t even own a proper racing bike, so the challenge of 100 miles non-stop was a daunting one. Slowly built up my distances, getting up early on Sunday mornings so I could get back to take my daughter swimming. It meant going out at 5am for the longest one – people were still coming home from Sat night!!

The event itself was amazing and I managed to beat my target if 7 hrs – coming in @ 6:46:01! :)"
