The world's fastest four-man crew

As part of Close to HOME, we are sponsoring a challenge taking place in June this year called ‘Row the Indian Ocean’ to raise awareness of, and money for, a number of Parkinson’s disease charities.

We have donated £21,000 towards the voyage which will help the crew to reach the start line in Exmouth, Western Australia, and will also enable the journey to be live streamed.

The Row the Indian Ocean crew intend to connect with broadcast media outlets throughout the row to share their experience and increase awareness of Parkinson’s, and specifically young-onset Parkinson’s disease, globally.

One of the four crew members who will be taking on the mission to row the 3,600 mile journey, Robin Buttery, was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s disease in 2015.

The journey will commence in Australia and represents an opportunity for both our UK and Australia teams to promote and support the challenge and our sponsorship.

We went down to meet the team at the London Boat Wednesday and took along Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark, who kindly agreed to come along to help promote the event.

Dave tweeted a clip on the day and almost 80,000 people have already watched the footage – we're planning a number of fundraising events in the coming months for Parkinson’s, so please retweet and we'll share our plans nearer the time.
