A 24 hour football match? Why not...
We caught up with Area Manager, Kim Matthews whose team weren’t just happy with a charity kick-about in the park, they certainly know how to go one better:
“My BPM Thomas Baker came to me with an idea to hold a 24 hour Football Match for charity. In the past we’ve had football tournaments but Tom was adamant that we should go one better. With 64 players from across the region – colleagues travelled from Skegness, Derby, Lincoln, Doncaster, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford – to put their stamina to the test.
Our MD of Retail, Nicola Frampton came along to show her support by blowing the first whistle to get us underway. And not only that, putting in a star appearance on the pitch and even bagging herself a goal.
And then when 5am came around, our Divisional Director Steven White stopped by, gallantly stepping into goal – which was much appreciated and a massive boost to the players.
The 24 hours were absolutely amazing and I cannot describe the overwhelming sense of pride I have for my colleagues that gave up their own time to come & play/support us through the 24 hours. There was a lot of logistics as you can imagine so a special thanks to the team of Tom, Rob, Sirj and Jack for helping to organise.
The chosen charity is the Bobby Moore Fund. So far we are up to £1800 and still taking donations which will be matched by the company, a huge achievement for all that took part.
This is what makes us one team.
