Meet Leroy, he’s from our retail team and works in our Handsworth shop in the West Midlands. We went behind the bet and found out a little bit more about Leroy and his life at William Hill.
How long have you worked for the Company?
I’ve been here for 13 years, I did work here before for 11 years but had a 4 year break where I lived in Germany and the USA.
What was the first shop you worked in?
Haymills in Birmingham… The Manager was called Derek Mills and he used to answer the phone & say… “Hills, Mills, Haymills”.
I was a Saturday worker and my pay was £5 and fish & chips!
Who’s your favourite sports person?
Anything by UB40 who just also happen to be friends of mine.
What’s your most memorable day at work?
I was late for work… the one and only time I might add. I arrived and there was a knock at the door, it was John Brown who was the boss of William Hill and two Area Managers. I nearly died… John Brown helped me put the papers up but I did get a call from the area manager the next day!
Any Celebrity punters in your shop?
Kash Gill aka Kash the Flash who was the World Champion kick boxer launched his autobiography in the Handsworth shop
